Nan has belonged to and loved the Episcopal Church her entire life. Though a cradle Episcopalian, she always said she would have chosen this denomination if she hadn’t been fortunate enough to be born into it. She appreciates that ours is a ”thinking” as well as “feeling” faith where even doubts are welcomed. The Episcopal Church recognizes that God is much more loving, generous, compassionate, forgiving, and empowering that we can imagine, and that there is beauty and purpose in our diversity.
Nan was born in Taylor, TX, where she was baptized at St. James Episcopal Church. Her family moved to Llano, TX and was very active at Grace Episcopal Church where she was confirmed.
Graduating from the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin after a previous career as a hospital pharmacist, Nan received a Masters of Divinity degree in 1992. She has served as a pastoral care associate at Trinity, Tulsa, St. Stephen’s, Beaumont, St. Luke’s Atlanta, as chaplain at Holland Hall School, Tulsa, and All Saints School, Beaumont, and as interim rector at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer, Greensboro, GA.
She and her husband, Stephen, were delighted to come “home” to the Texas Hill Country in 2016 and live in Liberty Hill. Their triplets, Christopher, Matthew, and Callie will graduate from colleges in May 2018.
Beginning work at Trinity in January 2018, Nan serves as the part-time Associate Rector, working Mondays, Tuesdays, and three Sundays a month.
